Introduction

Stephen Lock obtained his Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from the University College of Swansea in 1993 and is a chartered chemist and a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.  Previously a lecturer of Chemistry at the University of Hull and a senior scientist at CCFRA he currently works as the EMEA CE Marketing and Market Development Manager for SCIEX™.  He was worked at Sciex in various technical roles for over 20 years the first 15 of which were focused on the application of LCMS in food residue analysis, environmental and forensic testing as well as biopharmaceutical analysis.  He has presented at over 80 international meetings around the world encompassing several research areas but all involving the application of LCMS and CE and CE-MS in solving complex analytical questions.  He has sat on the SPSFAM Expert Review Panels for Ingredients, Antioxidants and Flavanols for the AOAC and has been on the AOAC panel for Stakeholder Panel on Infant Formula and Adult Nutritionals (SPIFAN) and on the AOAC Stakeholder Panel on Strategic Food Analytical Methods. Steve’s research interests are currently focused on the development of new CE and CE-MS methods for the analysis of biopharmaceuticals and the application of CE and CE-MS in food residue analysis.
